A quick 20 minute hop to the next US territory. US Virgin Islands.

St Thomas has the main airport and is the most populous. These islands were purchased by the US, from Denmark in 1917.

The capital – Charlotte Amalie – is now a very touristy town full of jewellery shops. Ready for the tens of thousands of cruise ship guests that flood the island most days.

But there were cute streets to explore, full of plants and flowers. And great views over to the boat-filled bay.
